Elizabeth Ann (Betty) McNabb, 86, of Springfield Mo, passed away June 11, 2022.
She was born to the late Albert and Rosa Hamel, Nov. 28, 1935, in Damar, Kansas. Betty graduated from Damar High School. She earned an LPN certification from Benedictine college in Atchison Kansas and an RN degree from Labette Community College in Parsons Kansas.
She retired from the VA hospital in Leavenworth Kansas after a 25-year career. Prior to her career at the VA, Betty spent 5 years as a Licensed Practical Nurse
For the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons, Kansas. Before going into healthcare, Betty owned and/or managed several restaurants in western Kansas and Eastern Colorado, one of which was the Frontier cafe in Colby Kansas. Betty was an avid Gardner and enjoyed spending time tending to her garden and canning tomatoes.
She is survived by two sons, Terry (Toni) McNabb of Kansas City, Mo. and Tallas McNabb of Hill City, Ks; three brothers, Gene and Alvin Hamel both of Damar, and Ron Hamel of Plainville, Kansas; three sisters, Tina Bobek, Dorothy Staab and Kayleen Hamel all of Plainville; three grandchildren; Shauntel Minks, Enterprise Al; Jonathon McJilton, Seattle Wa. and April McNabb, Kansas City, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her brother Albert Hamel Jr.; brother-in-law William Bobek, sisters-in-law Marylou Hamel and Rosie Hamel.
Betty wished to be cremated and no service is planned.
