Obituary

Eileen Clara Brooks passed away peacefully September 12, 2021 at the age of 80 after a long battle with progressive COPD and Alzheimer's disease.  Entering the world on November 14, 1940 in Baltimore, MD she was 1 of the 20 children born to John and Mary Ridgway.

She married the love of her life, George Randolph Brooks, on February 13, 1960.  First and foremost, Eileen was a dedicated wife and mother.  She treasured her husband and their three children and embraced every moment with them.  She especially loved her role as 'Nanny' to her eight grandchildren.

Eileen believed in the importance of respect, honesty and good manners and ruled with a firm hand to instill these values into her children.  She had a feisty personality and delightful sense of humor and was loved by all who met her.

In death, she has been reunited with her loving husband George, to whom she was happily married for 52 years; her parents John and Mary;  her sisters -  Mary, Ellen, Frances, Elizabeth & Agnes;  brothers – John, Robert, Charles, Raymond & Thomas; as well as her In-Laws – Freda & Harold Brooks and Ray and Juanita Brooks .

Eileen left behind a huge group of people who will miss her including her daughter & son-in-law Joan and Mathew Hounslow and son, George Brooks Jr., all of Springfield, MO;  her son Glen Brooks and daughter-in-law Mary Ann Root of The Colony, TX; sisters – May, Barbara, Jean, Jane & Joan and brothers Donald & Ronald and siblings-in-law Ricky & Denise Brooks.  Additionally sharing in this loss are her grandchildren - Matthew and his wife Stephanie, Jesse, Brandon, Geoffrey, Garrett, Stephanie, Gunnar & Lyric; her great-grandchildren Killian, Aubrey, Cameron, Rebecca, Lucas, Bentley and Marshall as well as countless other family and friends... All of whom she loved dearly.

A small private memorial will be held on October 15, 2021at the Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services in Springfield MO.  Additionally, a Celebration of Life gathering is planned to be held at a future date in Baltimore to honor both Eileen and George – details of which will be shared once finalized.
Her family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association via the Eileen Clara Brooks aka "Nanny" Tribute Page. Tribute Pages | Alzheimer's Association
