Edwin Lee Holm, 87, of Ozark, MO, formerly of Las Vegas, NV, passed away October 4, 2017. He was born July 18, 1930, in Waterloo, IA, to Severin and Leta Holm. His family moved to Missouri while he was still in school. Ed went on to graduate from Mountain Grove in 1949. He played High School football and was on the boxing team.
He married Bonnie Hutsell and had three children. Ed worked for John Deere in Waterloo, IA, and then for Union Pacific Railroad in Wyoming. He also owned the Meat Locker Plant in Hartville, MO, for several years and worked at the packing plant in Lincoln, NE. Years later he was a guard at the correctional center in Lincoln from where he retired.
He then moved to Las Vegas, NV and lived there for almost 30 years. He was an avid golfer and loved the game. You could always find him on the golf course 4 out of 7 days a week, sometimes more.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; Bonnie Martin (mother of his children); his son, Lenny Holm; sister, Norma Bruner; and nephew, John Bruner.
Ed is survived by his son, Rick Holm and wife Dana of Ozark; his daughter, Sandy Griffin and husband Ron of Nixa; five grandchildren, Whitney Whited, Lindsey Holm, Rachel Williams of Ozark, Derek Griffin, and Ashley Barnett of Nixa; six great-grandchildren, Kyla and Ryker of Nixa, Christian, Cage, Cayson of Ozark, and Cohen of Carl Junction; niece, Janet Lundquist of Lincoln, NE; and very special friends, Scott Perryman of Nixa, and Jeannie Wilcox of Las Vegas, NV.
Visitation will be held from 1-2 PM, with service following at 2 PM, Thursday, October 12, 2017, all in the Klinger Cope Chapel at Rivermonte Memorial Gardens
, Springfield. Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services, Springfield.
