Obituary

Edward Reid Petrovich

January 30th, 1957- November 11th, 2023
Edward (Eddie) Petrovich, age 66 of Tunas, MO passed peacefully in his sleep after a yearlong battle with liver cancer.

Born January 30, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois, Eddie was the son of Edward Anthony Petrovich and Helen Jacqueline Petrovich. He was raised in Lansing, Illinois and enlisted in the U.S. Army at the age of eighteen. After serving in the army, he lived in Lansing, Illinois and the surrounding areas for the greater majority of his life. Eddie settled in Tunas, Missouri for the last five years, happily retired.

Eddie, also known as "Big Ed" and "Fast Eddie" to some, was a man of tall stature (6'7") with a personality and life to match! He was known for his height, his physical strength, his curly hair, his musical abilities, his artistic aptitude, his natural talents, his love of motorcycles, and his spirited personality.

In his formative years, Eddie had a natural talent for basketball and other sports. However, after serving in the army, it was music that had won his heart. In the seventies, when Rock and Roll was in full swing, Eddie formed the band,"Triljain" with some of his childhood friends. They played all around the Chicago area and Northwest, Indiana. He even opened for a couple of well-known bands at that time. Eddie also sang with the cover band, "Exodus".
In the nineties, Eddie reunited with some of his band members and recorded an album under the band name, "Zion".
His voice was his main instrument, but he also played the guitar, harmonica, and dabbled in piano.

Eddie's other occupations include, but are not limited to, construction, roofing, and drywall. He always said that he was a jack of many trades, but a master of none. Nevertheless, his handy work, eye for perfection and natural talent would suggest otherwise. His final career was with Local 1 Chicago Ironworkers, to which he dedicated twenty years before retiring to Missouri. Although retired, Eddie's next venture would be one of the biggest adventures in hard work of all. He bought four acres in Tunas, Missouri and dove headfirst into homesteading. From the ground up, Eddie built all of the shelters for the chickens, cows, and pigs, storage for the wood and the well. He made the most beautiful fire pit from giant stones hauled from the land, put up fencing, milled his own lumber, built raised garden beds and natural arbors, planted fruit trees, and beautiful flowers. He also tried his hand at raising animals; raising a calf and hatching his own chickens from stock he had already purchased and raised. In the few short years that Eddie retired to Missouri to start a homestead, he learned and accomplished so much. He also rebuilt a cobbler sewing machine and started a new leather working business, ERP Leatherworks.

Eddie had a lifelong love of motorcycles, particularly Harley-Davidson. He built his first motorcycle at the age of nineteen and continued to ride for the rest of his years. He rode all around the Midwest, as well as most parts of the United States.

Eddie was a loyal and trusted friend and maintained many close childhood friendships. He was a man of faith, a charismatic and strong man, a creative soul, an artist, a craftsman, and a hard worker. Husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, Eddie will be dearly missed and remembered by so many.

Eddie was preceded in death by his mother and father: Edward Anthony Petrovich and Helen Jacqueline Petrovich, and also his brother James Edward Petrovich.

Eddie is survived by his loving wife Lori (nee) Kasparian.
His caring children: Taryn Lynne (Kevin) Haas, Eddie Anthony (Kristen) Petrovich, Ruby Tuesday Petrovich, & Ian Daniel Petrovich.
His Grandchildren: Logan Petrovich, Eva Haas, Nadia Lindner, Kinzie Molle, Edie Petrovich, Ella Haas, & Ethan Haas.
Siblings: Pamela Sasse, Renee Slon, Nancy Iovino, Lisa Rogers, & Scott Rogers.
Eddie will also be dearly missed by nieces, nephews, cousins, a multitude of lifelong friends, and his many beloved brothers from the Ironworkers of Local 1 Chicago, of which he was a proud member.

Eddie will be cremated and laid to rest by his loving wife and children in private, as per his request.
