Obituary

Richard Dwaine Murphy, 90, was born on February 26, 1934, in Nashua, Missouri, to Guy and Lora Dean Murphy. His final day on Earth was April 7th, 2024, in Springfield, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Betty Staten and Donna O'Connor, his brother Gary Murphy, son Mark Murphy and three former wives.

Dwaine left behind his beloved family consisting of his brother Perry Murphy and wife Barbara, sister-in-law Connie Murphy, two daughters Marcia Lewis and Angela Murphy, three grandchildren Jessica Redfearn, Jacob Lewis, and Jordan Lewis, and his seven great-grandchilden.

He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 676 for many years after serving in the United Sates Navy during the Korean War on the U.S.S Basilone. During his free time, he loved spending time with his family, fishing, cooking out, enjoying the ocean, traveling, watching old western or war time movies, supporting the Kansas City Chiefs, and spending time with his friends at the American Legion. For those that knew Dwaine, he was a friendly smile and welcoming embrace that never knew a stranger.

The family will be holding a Celebration of Life at the American Legion Post 676, 2350 N Clifton Ave, Springfield, MO, 65803 on Saturday, April 13th, 2024 from 1pm-4pm. All are welcome to come raise a toast and honor a beloved man and friend.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services.
