Obituary

Douglas "Doug" McArthur Yearta, 81, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 28, 2025. He was born on December 31, 1943, in Ozark, Arkansas, to William Ruben Yearta and Erva Mildred Yearta.

Doug was surrounded by loved ones in his final moments. A celebration of life and burial of his ashes will be held at a later date in Ozark, Arkansas.

Doug lived a full and meaningful life. After proudly serving in the United States Air Force, he built a long and successful career in advertising sales within the newspaper industry. In his later years, he transitioned into automotive sales, where he worked until his retirement.

He lived for many years in the Jasper, Missouri community, where he built lasting friendships and enjoyed small-town life. Doug had only recently moved to Springfield, Missouri, to live with his daughter and her family.

Doug had a deep love for antique cars and could often be found at local car shows, sharing stories and admiring classic automobiles. He enjoyed fishing, attending auctions, and exploring antique stores with friends and family in search of unique treasures. He had a special passion for dragon figurines and was an avid reader. A devoted fan of classic Western movies—especially those on the Grit channel—Doug rarely missed an opportunity to watch one of his favorites.

Known for his quick wit, sense of humor, and love of telling jokes, he brought laughter to everyone around him. Doug cherished spending time with his family and friends, creating the memories that will be forever treasured.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Frankie L. Rhodes (2018); and his brother, William Ruben Yearta, Jr. (2013).

Doug is survived by his daughters: April Hoffman of Beaufort, Missouri; Amy N. (Raymond) LaRue of Springfield, Missouri; Laura J. (Jeff) Lagomarsino of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and Melanie Yearta of Topeka, Kansas. He is also survived by his brother, Rex (Denise) Yearta of Springfield, Missouri; four nieces; and seven grandchildren: Ashley Harlow of Sullivan, Missouri; Jessica Williams of Washington, Missouri; Michael Agee of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Christopher Agee of Springfield, Missouri; and Isabella, Kambria, and Maxton Lagomarsino, all of Idaho Falls, Idaho.
