Douglas Gilliam

Douglas "Doug" H. Gilliam, 69, of Springfield, Missouri passed away on Monday, September 21, 2026. He was born on July 14, 1957 in Kansas City, Missouri to Harry and Gail Gilliam.

Doug graduated from Hillcrest high school in 1976. He was in the boy scouts throughout his childhood and loved the outdoors. Doug worked for years in Springfield in various positions, namely at Mid America Dairymen. He volunteered for well over a thousand hours at the Missouri Conservation Department over the last 35 years, and led thousands of hikes throughout the Missouri National Forests to local residents. He was a passionate outdoorsman who loved to camp and hike. He was a musician, and played the bass guitar as well as the guitar throughout his life and shared his love of music with his friends and family.

He was married to Judy Gilliam on April 15, 1977, and of this union three children were born; they remained married until Judy's death on January 5th 2026.

Doug is survived by his brother Michael Gilliam and wife Leslie of Springfield, Missouri, his daughter Celeste Simmons and her husband Simon of Nevada, Missouri, his son Doug Gilliam and wife Barbara of Colombia, Missouri, a daughter Christie Barton Lane and spouse. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services of Springfield, Missouri.
