Douglas "Doug" Edward Avondet, 68, a lifelong resident of Monett, MO passed away suddenly on Monday, February 10, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield MO.

Born March 7, 1956, to Edward Avondet and Lucille (Anderson) Avondet who both preceded him in death as well as older brother, Terry.

He is survived by his brother, Don Avondet and sister-in-law Brucene Avondet; sister, Debra Avondet Rhea and brother-in-law, Jeffrey Harris. Also, left to grieve his memory is longtime friend, Mary Sweeney.

Doug was a student at New Vista school and graduated from Monett High School with the class of 1974.  He was an avid drag racing enthusiast spending many hours racing at Mo-Kan Dragway in his late teens and early 20's.

Doug was born on a farm Southwest of Monett and farming was his passion for many years. He was much like his father and quick to repair any car, truck, combine, windrower, or just about anything that needed repair.

A small private burial will be held at a later date with interment at Waldensian Presbyterian Church, Monett.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services of Springfield, MO.
