Obituary

Doris Ellen Lechenette, 76, of Kimberling City, MO, formerly of Columbia, MO, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2023. She was born January 17, 1947, in Memphis, TN.

On February 5, 1966, she married Ron Lechenette. Two daughters were born to this union, Sherri and Lisa. Doris enjoyed taking trips with George, her kids, grandkids and sisters. Especially visiting, Yellowstone and Dauphin Island, or any destination with a waterfall. Doris became the matriarch of a growing family, often playing multiple roles at once; wife, mom, grandma, sister, aunt, advice giver, decorator, chef, caregiver and many more. Time spent with her family was everything, whether it be on the boat or just sitting at the kitchen table playing cards, this time was precious. She loved deeply and fiercely. She was a big Elvis fan. She also loved boating, fishing, seeking out the best catfish restaurants around and shopping up and down every aisle at Wal-Mart. After her career at 3M and owning several business with her husband in Columbia, MO, retirement was enjoyed at Table Rock Lake for the past several years.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Opal Brown; mother, Lendel Lewis; brother, Jerry Rogers; and brother-in-law, Jerry Zitnak.

Doris is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ron "George" Lechenette; daughters, Sherri Howard and husband William "Buck"; Lisa Singleton and husband Chris; grandchildren, Tyler Singleton and wife Gina, Alexis Howard, Kayla Holtwick and husband Drew; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Avelyn, Theo, and Bobby; sisters, Charlotte Zitnak and Shelley Blackwell and husband Ron; brother, David Crowder; her nieces, nephew and their children, and her beloved dog, Desi.

A celebration of Doris' life will be held at a later date in Columbia, MO.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services.
