Donald Marshal Simons, 77, passed away March 19, 2019, in Springfield, MO. He was married to Elizabeth Ann Simons and they shared 34 wonderful years together.
Born on August 23, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of Marshal and Elizabeth Simons, and younger brother to Darlene. As a young child, Don moved from Detroit to a farm in Norwood, MO. Don's elementary years were spent attending school in a one-room schoolhouse and helping out on the farm. He graduated from Norwood High School in 1959. After graduation, Don became a proud teamster and truck driver with Beaufort Transfer Company. Following his retirement, he spent many years working for Aurora Chrysler before fully retiring.
Donald was a member of Destiny Church in Republic, MO. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Don loved spending his free time outside, taking care of his beloved pets and strays that wandered onto his property, and watching Nascar on TV with his wife, Liz.
Don is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; daughter, Sonya Lawrence and husband Steve of DeLand, FL; son, Andrew Simons and wife Leanne of Nixa, MO; brother-in-law, Roland Bartley; and nine grandchildren, Timothy, Hayden, Amelia, Isabelle, Morgan, Alexander, Cameron, William and Maddison.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshal and Elizabeth Simons; and sister, Darlene Bartley.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM, with services starting at 11 AM, Saturday, March 30, 2019, in the Destiny Church, 526 E Harrison St, Republic, MO. Burial of the urn will follow at 12:30 in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Springfield.
