IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald
Custer
October 19, 1934 – October 1, 2025
Donald Lynn Custer was born on October 19, 1934, in Crane, MO. He went to his heavenly home on October 1, 2025, at his home in Willard, MO. He was eighteen days shy of his 91st birthday.
Don was the tenth child in his family of ten children. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Ethel Wells, Esther Fee, and Vena Berglund; and five brothers, Owen Custer, Carl Custer, Lewis Custer, Noel Custer, and Glen Custer. His daughter-in-law, Cathy, also precedes him in death.
Don married Pat Custer in January of 1957, in Miami, Oklahoma. They shared 68 years together. Dad took great care of Mom the last few years in their home. Don and Pat enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling and doting on their granddaughter, Aly and great grandson, Ayden. They were a social pair, and everyone was always welcome in their home.
Don was in the Operating Engineer Union for many years and did road construction as his career. We've been told that his work was admired by his peers. He was also a faithful member of the Masonic Lodge of Crane, MO.
Don is survived by his wife, Pat; son, Randy; daughter, Robin and her husband Keith; granddaughter, Aly and great grandson, Ayden; sister-in-law, Wanda Custer; sister, Mary Lou Mundkowsky; along with other family members; and many dear friends.
Don wrote his own eulogy over the last ninety years on this earth. He was hardworking, a true family man, honest and always ready to share a story with you.
