Dolores Ann (Goss) Maples, aged 78, died on August 30, 2014, at The Maple Wood Alzheimer's Center in Springfield, MO. She was born February 19, 1936, in Mora, MO, to Leonard and Rosemary Goss. Dolores grew up in Sedalia, MO. She attended Sacred Heart High School. After school she worked at Town and Country shoe factory for over 20 years. Her last place of residence was in Sarcoxie, MO, where she worked as a U.S. Postal Service rural route carrier for 20 years. Her customers loved her. She kept all the notes they left her over the years. She knew their families and would check on her elderly customers. She loved planting trees and flowers to "give shade to the animals." She loved animals since she was a small child. She also enjoyed collecting antiques and attending auctions. She was a fantastic mother and grandmother and was loved dearly. Dolores was happily married to Ishmael Maples in 1982 who preceded her in death in 2003. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Vermillion of Strafford, MO; son, Gary Mosier of Ozark, MO; sisters, Shirley (Frank) Dick of Sedalia, MO, Joan (Lee) Smasal of Sedalia, MO; brothers Gene Goss of Cole Camp, MO, and James (Joyce) Goss of Sedalia, MO; grandchildren, Wendy Mosier, Melissa Mosier, Anne Vermillion, David Vermillion, Matthew Mosier, Nichole Mosier, and Nathan Mosier; and great-grandchildren, Allison Dillinger, Hannah Mosier, Kaylynn Mosier, Houston Mosier, Cameron Mosier, Colin Vermillion, and Ian Vermillion. Dolores was preceded in death by husbands, Ishmael Maples and Rayburn Brooks; parents, Leonard and Rosemary Goss; and son, Dan Mosier. A graveside service will be held at St. Patrick's in Springfork, MO, on September 6, 2014, at 10:00 am. Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services assisted with arrangements.
