Derek Steven Lawyer, 31, of Springfield, MO, passed away September 27, 2020. He was born October 29, 1988, in Frederick, MD, to Douglas and Deborah Lawyer.

Derek spent his childhood in Frederick, MD, but his family moved to Montana where he graduated from Big Timber High School in Big Timber, MT. He went on to earn an Associate's Degree in Business Administration from Frederick Community College and a Bachelor's Degree in Logistics from Missouri State University. He was proud of being from Maryland and growing up in Montana. He greatly enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, skiing, and Halloween. But most of all Derek loved being a father to his two children.

Derek is survived by his daughter, Lillian Nicole Lawyer (7); son, Maddox Hayward Lawyer (10 months); partner, Bianca Cochrane all of Springfield, MO; parents, Douglas and Deborah Lawyer; sister, Heather Lawyer all of Rutledge, TN; and grandmother, Doris Ashenfelter of Frederick, MD.
