Obituary

Dennis Keith DePriest, 68, of Springfield, MO passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023. He was born October 7, 1954, to Bill and Lois DePriest in St. Louis, MO.

Dennis was a wonderful husband, father, friend, mentor, teacher, entrepreneur, inventor, musician, and grandfather. Most importantly, he was an active and steadfast Believer in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and lived a life that was an open testament to his faith. He had a passion for learning and a brilliant mind and was always quick to recommend a book or article to read.  He was a knowledgeable electrician and overall handyman, and never hesitated to drop what he was doing to help a friend or son or daughter out with any kind of vehicle repair or home improvement project.  He was a gifted athlete while growing up and loved investing in coaching his kids in their athletic development as well.  He was a Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed watching the games with his kids and grandkids (who are also all Packers fans, not surprisingly). He was a skilled pianist, and invested in ensuring all of his children had a love and knowledge of music from a young age.  He was an excellent source of intelligence and wisdom and offered counsel and guidance to many. He was a gifted teacher, and enjoyed sharing his insight with others, helping them grow in their understanding on any given topic (but especially in areas of Biblical Truth).  He was a creative and brilliant inventor and businessman, and had undertaken many entrepreneurial ventures throughout his life.

He was a loving and gracious father and grandfather (and husband to his dear wife, who passed away 11 years ago), and he set a beautiful example for his kids and those around him who were witness to his incredible life.

Dennis was preceded in death by his father Bill and mother Lois, and beloved wife Jill DePriest.

He is survived by his two sisters, Debra Wilson and Sharon Lucas, and his eight children and nineteen grandchildren: Suzanne Koepke and her husband Joseph with their children (Aiden, Rilyn, Hudson, Emersen, and Zion), Matthew DePriest and his wife Sarah with their children (Corban, Euan, Sojourner, and Amalia), Amy Hesher and her husband Luke with their children (Lincoln, Lyric, Killian, and Kiah), Kara Van Eerden and her husband Samuel with their children (Eisley, Caspian, and new baby due in July), Christopher DePriest and his wife Susanna with their children (William, Eleanor, and Evelyn), Hayley Dereszynski and her husband Aaron, Michael DePriest and his wife Tamara, and Jenna Murray and her husband Michael.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services of Springfield, MO.
