IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Delbert
Bonner
September 12, 1933 – September 23, 2020
Delbert "Del" Dee Bonner, 87, of Springfield, MO, passed away September 23, 2020. He was born September 12, 1933, in Taos, NM, to Heard and Irene Bonner.
Del grew up in Taos, NM, but when he contracted Scarlet Fever his family moved to California to be close to Shriners Hospital for his care. From then on the family lived in the San Francisco East Bay area. He met Kay, his wife of over 62 years at Contra Costa Jr. College and they were married on Valentine's Day, 1958.
Del served in the United States Army in Germany. During this time, he saved all of his money to be able to tour Europe, a trip he never forgot. His working career started as a camera clerk at Longs Drugs in California and after many jobs within the major drug chains in Oregon, and Washington ended in El Paso as CEO of a Coupon Processing plant in Juarez, Mexico. Del and Kay moved to Springfield to retire yet again, where he worked as the Corporate Controller for Global University of the Assembly of God. Del loved to make people laugh and entertained his nurses as long as he could.
Del was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Richard and Clyde and their wives, Glenda and Pat; his beloved daughter, Ann, in June 2011; followed six months later by his daughter-in-law, Barbara.
He is survived by his wife, Kay of Springfield, MO; his son, James Howard (Jim) of Washington State and many cousins, and nieces and nephews.
Due to the quarantine at Maranatha Village the funeral will be held on closed circuit TV at 10 am, October 8, 2020.
