Harold Dean Boggs, 79, of Summersville, MO, formerly of Oklahoma City, OK, passed away May 17, 2021 in Springfield, MO. He was born July 8, 1941, in Oklahoma City, OK, to RC and Estelle Boggs

Graduated from high school in Oklahoma City, joined the Navy but was stationed with the Marines as a corpsman in the Sierra Nevada mountains in Northern California.  He told his kids he fought the Battle of Reno but never won.  Being a corpsman inspired him to pursue a career in nursing.  He met and married Mary Richardson in 1962. He graduated from San Bernardino State with a degree in nursing in 1966, the only man in his class.  He started his career working as a psychiatric nurse at Patton State Hospitals in San Bernardino.  Later, he worked for six months at Napa State Hospital and received additional specialized training in psychiatric nursing.   Deanna was born in 1965 and Mike in 1966.  After his father passed away, he moved his family back to Oklahoma where he started working as a psychiatric nurse in VA hospitals.  He got his master's degree in nursing in the early 70's.  His focus continued on psychiatric nursing and, later included at risk youth.  He worked for several years in Oklahoma and eventually remarried Debbie Mahfouz. After the sudden death of his sister, Dean and Debbie took in her children Bobby and Danielle.  He eventually moved back to Oklahoma City and in 1996 he moved to Washington state to be near Deanna and Mike and his grandchildren. He settled in Port Angeles and had a loving relationship with Patricia Wheatley for several years.  He spent the last 10 years in his happiest relationship with Pat Ogden.  They moved to Summersville, MO, to be near Pat's daughter Stephanie. He developed a bond with Stephanie and came to think of her as one of his children.  He was happiest when he was reading and telling his stories to anybody who was willing to listen.  He was kind, decent and loving man and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, RC Boggs and Laura Estelle Corbett Boggs and several of his 10 siblings, Eddie, Jerry, Perry, Richard, Ramona, Billie Ruth, Tommie Jo and Jessie Lou. He is survived by his younger sisters, Katie and Peggy.

Dean is survived by his children, Deanna and her husband Lance (Gildea) and their children Mary Kate and Greg (Alyssa), Mike and his wife Cynthia and their children, Taylor (Tarren), Samantha and Addison and what Dean called his bonus kids, Bob Stark, Laura Danielle Cox and Stephanie Ogden.

At his request he was cremated and there will be no services.
