David grew up in Indiana, and then moved to Florida. He joined the workforce at 14 and worked for an auction company. In his 20's he moved to Oklahoma, where he worked for the Lee Company doing glasswork. David then started his own water garden building company, Aquatic Serenities. Upon moving to Missouri, he married his loving wife, Tiffany. He started another business, Knot Perfect Beds & Furnishings, making furniture out of the cedar wood on the farm that he adored.

He was preceded in death by his father, David Frederick Thompson.

David is survived by his wife, Tiffany Rose Thompson; his daughter, Ashley Lynn Easter; his daughter, Cheyenne Skye Thompson; his son, Andrew Gerard Bourcier; and his daughter, Savannah Harley Rose Bourcier; his mother, Rose Mary Butler; his beloved mother-in-law, Malissa Haley; his sister, Tonya Thompson; his sister, Rebecca Thompson; his brother, Rob Moore; his sister-in-law, Tina Weathers; his brother-in-law, Michael (Gimpy) Haley; his sister-in-law, Yvette Broomhead; along with several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs, Maxine and Daisy.
