David L. Philips passed away on November 9, 2020 at Cox Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri. He lived on an acreage near Billings, Missouri. He was born in Fairfield, Iowa on November 8, 1959 to Peggy (Mrogenski) and Larry Philips. He grew up Van Buren County, Iowa helping his parents on the farm. He later attended Indian Hills Community College obtaining his associates degree. He started his career as a diesel mechanic but developed himself through various roles in project management and sales in the power generation industry, most recently working for Peaker Services as a Regional Sales Manager. He was well known nationally in the industry having developed long term relationships with peers in this field.
Dave absolutely loved to hunt, passing on this love to Brandon and Travis. He spent many years hunting deer, pheasants and wild turkeys with these two. He also enjoyed many hunting elk and trout fishing excursions with brother-in-law Jeff Nechanicky. After moving to Missouri, he and his neighbor Sam Brown spent many hours hunting deer and turkeys. To son Corey he passed on his love of making and fixing things. They spent hours working alongside each other on various projects. He loved to travel, enjoying many trips with his wife and family. This past February, Joni and Dave traveled to Hawaii to celebrate their 26 th anniversary. His travel bug also suited him well in his career. Like his mother Peggy Philips, he also loved everything NASCAR.
He was preceded in death by his parents Larry and Peggy Philips. He is survived by his wife, Joanne (aka Joni) Philips, sons Corey Philips(Leigha), Brandon Philips and stepson Travis(Julie) Albert; brothers Dennis(Sondra) Philips, Daniel(Wauneta) Philips; sisters Deborah Syfert and Penny(Terry) Dolberg. He loved and adored his seven grandchildren Gwen, Avery, Dierks, Crosby and Chandler Philips and Kennadi and Remingtin Albert.
His smile, his sparkling brown eyes, his sense of humor and love of family will be truly missed.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date in Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials are being accepted by the family.
