IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David
Fletcher
December 28, 1946 – January 2, 2024
David Dean Fletcher, 77, of Springfield, Missouri, a devoted husband, loving father and proud veteran of the United States Army, passed away on January 2, 2024.
David, the son of Allen Fletcher and Flora Fondell (Taylor) Fletcher, was born in his rural home on December 28, 1946 in Paragould, Arkansas, where he continued to grow and live the majority of his life. He attended Greene County Tech High School and Arkansas State University, where he followed his love of art. David owned and operated a successful and thriving business for 55 years of operation as "Fletcher's Carpet Service."
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Beverly (Reed) Fletcher; parents Allen and Fondell Fletcher; and his brothers; Franklin (Bud) Fletcher, James Fletcher, and Lelland (Doc) Fletcher.
David is survived by his loving daughters Stephanie Myers, Cortney Chaffin, and Shannon Coles; his incredible grandchildren; Avery Myers, Brady Chaffin, Logan Akins, Kelsie Steed and Trenton Coles; great-grandchild, Cort Steed; and sister, JoAnn Stevens. His loved ones will remember him as a warm, loving, and jovial friend and family member to all. David could often be found with a joke on his tongue or a prank in his eye. In his free time, his hobbies included racing motorcycles, and restoring Volkswagens. His love of cars and engines extended throughout all his years, even to teaching his children and grandchildren how to drive. David was loved by so many near and far and the loss of his presence will be felt for all time.
At the age of 21, David enlisted in the United States Army. For his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Combat Infantry Badge for serving active duty during armed combat. He received a Commendation Medal for his sustained acts of heroism and meritorious service and marksmanship badges as a respected serviceman. For his sacrifices during the Vietnam War, David was given the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He attained the ranking of Army Sergeant and was proud that his brothers in service followed his lead. As a decorated Vietnam veteran, David will receive military honors at the Springfield Veterans Cemetery, where his wife Beverly, who preceded him in death, March of 2023, will be interred with him.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services of Springfield, MO.
