Fredonia, KS will never be the same due to Darron Dee Culbertson, 53, leaving this earth on Saturday, Februrary 21, 2015, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, MO. He was a lifelong resident of Fredonia and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Dee was a third generation blacksmith/welder at Culbertson Welding and was employed there most of his life. He enjoyed working for the local farmers and learned many life lessons from these women and men. He worked side by side with his father, Glen Culbertson, and was never afraid to get his hands dirty. He enjoyed doing activities with his family and never missed any events that involved his children. He always helped with the dance recitals Dorothy was involved with and was her biggest fan. Dee played the drums and music was ever present in his life and household. As a little boy, Dee wanted to be an astronaut and that was the beginning of his love of science fiction. He wanted to learn to fly and took classes from Gene Berger in his Senior year of high school. He was proud to be a graduate of Fredonia High School Class of 79. Dee loved his classmates and was glad to attend his class reunion this last October. Dee was an interesting soul. On September 10, 1994, he married Dorothy Jane Hartung Culbertson, the love of his life and she resides at the home. They were blessed with three children, Misstacia Florez Kidd, 29 of Pauls Valley, OK, Logan Culbertson, 19, a student at Emporia State University, and Niles Culbertson, 15, also of the home. He is also survived by 2 granddaughters, Audrey Kidd and Valerie Kidd; 2 sisters, Ruby Hughes and Brenda Spaht; and one brother, Randy Culbertson. He was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Bennett Culbertson; and his father, Glen LeRoy Culbertson. Dorothy and Dee shared a beautiful life together. There was always joy and laughter surrounding them and their love story was awesome. Dee s humor, wit, and devotion to his family will be forever remembered by his loved ones. Services will be Friday, February 27, 2015, at 2:00 PM, in the First Christian Church of Fredonia, KS. Until we meet again .. two hearts .. one soul.
