IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Darrell Wayne
Massey
October 6, 1954 – April 6, 2022
Darrell Wayne Massey was born on October 6, 1954, to Verlin Linn Massey and Lena Sue (Moore) Massey in Grovespring, Missouri. He left the pain of this world behind on April 6, 2022.
Darrell leaves behind a daughter, Rhiannon Marie Massey (Purdy Girl) and her fiancé Donnie Strunk of Norwood Missouri. Lyndon Kays of Fair Grove, Missouri, a very special nephew he thought of as the son he never had; three grandchildren, Ashley Lynn Hicks (James) of Macomb, Missouri, Karla Earline Carpenter and fiancé Bailey Linton of Mountain Grove, Missouri and Raylee Dawn Strunk of Norwood, Missouri; three great grandchildren, Dusty James Carpenter, Brinleigh Marie Linton, and Emersyn Grace Hicks; three sisters, Marlena Sue Clopton (Marvin) of Fair Grove, Missouri, Nancy Elaine Moore (Michael) of Lebanon, Missouri, and Mary Prock (Danny) of Grovespring, Missouri; nieces and nephews; Marty Clopton, Mia Shelton, Tracy Clopton, Brian Clopton, Samantha Moore, Catlyn Jones, Sandi McGuire, and his special hunting and fish story telling nephew, Joshua Prock; as well as many more friends and family.
Darrell was preceded in death by both parents, Verlin and Lena Massey in 2014; a grandson, Dylan James Carpenter in 2013; a best friend, Bruce Hogan in 2013; and a nephew, Mark Allen Clopton in 2011.
Darrell graduated from Hartville High School in 1972 and began a career as a Lineman. He was very proud of his work and gained many lifelong friends who he thought very highly of. He loved to key up the CB and you could hear him daily on the waves. He loved to tell us where in the states, and sometimes overseas, the people lived who he had spoken with that day or in the early morning hours. Many will miss those words "Anyone got a copy on the Moose out there?"
He loved that Harley Davidson and that is all you need to say about that.
Darrell was the happiest in the outdoors. He loved to fish, hunt, trap, and just sit and appreciate the great Ozark Hills the Lord provided for us. He was full of knowledge, he knew where the best fishing was, what the best bait was, which hook to use, where the best place to dig worms was, and when to throw it back until next year. He could put an unbelievable edge on a Case pocketknife, and he hand made some of the most beautiful bows, canoe paddles, and walking sticks.
He was a kindhearted loving man, a wonderful storyteller, and a great listener, who will be missed by many. He was a big man with a bigger heart and those who knew him and loved him will cherish the wonderful memories of him forever.
Visitation for friends and family will be held for Darrell Wayne Massey on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at McBride Chapel in Falcon, Missouri, beginning at 10:00 am, with a graveside service directed by Michael Moore to follow at McBride Cemetery.
