Dan A. Messenger, 75, of Republic, MO passed away Monday, July 15, 2024. He was born January 18, 1949, to Paul and Georgiabelle Messenger in Leroy, IL.

Dan served active duty in the US Navy and continued in the Navy Seebees Reserve. He relocated with his parents to Rockaway Beach, Mo where he worked for the Taney County Road Crew when he met is wife of 35 years. Dan adopted his wife's sons and built a family of 4 then together they welcomed a daughter. Dan transitioned into the US Air Force Reserves to complete his service. Later in life, Dan found enjoyment in driving semi-trucks, watching TV, and honing his Donald Duck impersonation.

He was preceded in death by his parents and only sibling, Jane Messenger of Rolla, Mo.

Dan is survived by his ex-wife and mother of his children, Linda D'Alessandro Messenger of Nixa, Mo; sons, Preston Messenger of Nixa, Mo., Michael Messenger of Walnut Shade, Mo., and Julie Messenger Lewis of Clever, Mo. Dan also left behind 7 grandchildren (Mik Messenger, McKenzie Messenger, Michael Messenger, Timothy Messenger, Brady Lewis, Izabella Lewis, and Calyx Lewis) and one great grandchild, Emory Messenger.

There will be a graveside service at Springfield National Cemetery, located at 1702 E Seminole St, Springfield, MO 65804-2438 on Thursday September 12th, 2024, at 1:00pm. Family and friends are invited to gather for a Celebration of Life following the service. Details provided by Julie Lewis 417-773-6968.
