Coleen F. Mills, 71, of Springfield, MO, died peacefully Wednesday, July 30, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 13, 1942, to Layton and Vesta Gary of Miltonvale, KS. Coleen worked in a number of capacities during her life. She was a waitress, secretary, bookkeeper, truck driver, dairy farmer, award winning Super 8 motel manager, Mother, and her favorite job: grandmother. It was as a secretary and bookkeeper for a small trucking company in Wichita, KS, that she met her husband of 47 years, Harvey L. Mills, whom she married in Miltonvale, KS on April 21, 1967. Coleen loved a number of activities, including crossword puzzles, Danielle Steele books, and any holiday that required decorating. Coleen is survived by her husband, Harvey; daughter, Sherry and husband Mark DeWeerd, son, Russell and wife Deedee Mills, Ethan Stuart; grandchildren, Ryan and Eric Mills and Rachel and Megan DeWeerd; mother, Vesta; brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Marlene Gary; and sister, Elaine Morehead. Services will be held at 1:30 pm, Saturday, August 2, 2014, at the Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2441 South Lone Pine, Springfield, MO, 65804. Casual attire. Thank you.
