Obituary

Claudine Florence Scott, 104, of Bolivar, Missouri passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 3. 2025, at Butterfield Residential Care Center.

Claudine was born June 19, 1920, to Ralph and Elizabeth Penfield in Sedan, Kansas. Claudine was the youngest of six children and had three brothers and two sisters.  Claudine attended Peru High School.  It was there that she met William "Bill" Scott.  The two quickly fell in love and, once they graduated from high school, got married in 1938.  Soon after marriage the couple moved to San Diego, California, where they both worked for an aircraft manufacturing company.  Claudine and Bill were blessed with three daughters. After being a stay-at-home Mom, Claudine returned to the workforce when the girls were older, and she worked as the church secretary at Point Loma United Methodist Church for nine years.

When Bill retired, he and Claudine became "Airstreamers." They had lots of fun attending Airstream rallies around the country.  They enjoyed the experience of working at Yellowstone National Park for six summers.

After Bill passed away in 1986, Claudine found her love for ballroom dancing.  Claudine also enjoyed crocheting for many years.

Claudine met her second husband, Daniel Frost Watson, while ballroom dancing at the local Senior Center.  They enjoyed twenty years together until Dan passed away.

In 2018 Claudine moved from San Diego, CA to Bolivar, Missouri to live in the Butterfield Residential Care Center.  While at Butterfield at the age of 99, she used her dancing talent at the Golden Age Games and played the part of Patsy Cline.  At the age of 101 she was named Ms. Missouri Nursing Home 2021 runner up.  In 2023 Claudine volunteered for a research study about exceptional longevity.  On Claudine's 104th birthday she danced, using her walker, to the song, "Everywhere You Go Sunshine Follows You".  Because the waltz was Claudine's favorite dance, her friends believe she is now waltzing down the golden streets of Heaven.

Claudine was preceded in death by her parents; all five of her siblings; husband, William Scott; her second husband, Daniel Frost Watson; her daughter, Robin Lynn McQuitty; her son-in-law, William Tadlock; and her grandson, David Tadlock.
