Celebrating the life of Charlie Bays
Charles Eugene Bays, known as "Charlie," to his friends and family, passed away suddenly at the age of seventy-one in his home, in Marshfield, Missouri, on Friday, March 08, 2024.
Born on August 22, 1952, to Dwight and Ruth Bays in Springfield, Missouri. He was the only son and affectionally called the baby of the family by his two older sisters Connie who was nine years older, & Charlotte who was seven years older. Charlie was 12 years old when his parents made the decision to head west to Santa Ana, California in 1964.
In 1972, Charlie married the love of his life Lynn Marie. They were lucky to have fifty-four years together, almost fifty-two married, raising their three children: daughter Stacy, twin son's Jason, and Jeremy, they also cherished becoming Papa and Rema to grandchildren: Justin, Shania, Alexis, Jaxon and Baileah; and great-grandson; Ambrose.
After the passing of his father, Charlie & Lynn made the decision to move the family back to his home state of Missouri around 1989. He called his mother Ruth, who was on vacation in Missouri and asked if she wanted to move back to her home state as well, the answer was yes, so not only did he and Lynn move their family's entire belongings they also moved Ruth's, even her car. He and Lynn lived in Nixa, Mo, and Sparta Mo before settling on nine acres in Marshfield, Mo.
Charlie learned the importance of working hard at an early age, he tagged along with his father painting homes when he was allowed and when it was time to start looking towards his future he continued working hard painting homes until applying for a job at Western Medical Center, Santa Ana, California, where he worked his way to become the Director of Maintenance and Engineer; he worked thirteen years for them. Prior to retirement Charlie worked thirteen years for Bass Pro Shops in their maintenance department at their warehouse in Springfield, Missouri.
Charlie loved the outdoors: whether he was cruising on his Harley, when it wasn't broken down, or his 52 Ford Pickup down the highways and roads of California; hunting on his nine acers, kayaking on the rivers; fishing in the Ocean, casting his reel/pole at his favorite spots Fellows Lake, and Bennett Springs or playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchild he was in his happy place.
Charlie is survived and missed by his wife Lynn Marie Bays; children: Stacy Lynn Bays (Devin), Brighton, MO; Jason Charles Bays, Marshfield, Mo; and Jeremy Eugene Bays, Marshfield, Mo; grandchildren: Justin Charles Bays, Brighton, Mo, and Shania Lynn Stone, Springfield, Mo; Jaxon Charles Bays, Springfield, Mo and Baileah Marie Bays Marshfield, Mo; great- grandson Ambrose James Williams Springfield Mo; his sister Charlotte Stark, Nixa, Mo as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
