Obituary

Charles "Chuck" Henry Ramey, Jr, 60, of Springfield, MO, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2016. He was born in Terre Haute, Indiana, October 1, 1955, to Charles and Jane Ramey.

He entered the US Army in November of 1973. He received the National Defense Service Medal and spent time overseas before receiving an honorable discharge. He owned and operated his own home improvement business for close to 20 years. He never minded doing the dirty work to get the job done.

He had an amazing sense of ornery humor that could make any person smile. He always had a new story to tell and knew no bounds in his exaggeration. He once convinced his step-daughter he built the St. Louis Arch out of toothpicks and 11 years later, he convinced his own daughter of the same tall tale. He was an amazingly generous person and would go out of his way to help others. He would give the shirt off his back to help a stranger out.

He was unbelievably proud of his daughter and thought the world of her. He wanted nothing more than to walk her down the aisle at her wedding this June. To his old friends and new, he bragged about her being his greatest achievement.

He had a powerful outlook on life that he kept to the very end. He believed in happiness and never wanted to see anyone down. He always said, "Never take life too seriously."

He was preceded in death by his parents.  Chuck is survived by his daughter, Molli Ramey, and a host of family and friends.

Services will be held at 1 PM, Monday, April 18, 2016, in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery with full Military Honors. Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services.
