Obituary

Charlene May Baker, 71, of Pleasant Hope, MO, passed away February 2, 2014, in Mercy (St. John's) Hospital, Springfield, MO, from natural causes. It was a shock to us all. She was born August 18, 1942, to Charley "Shorty" Short and Laverna Short both of whom preceded her in death, along with her brother, Charles "Sonny" Short; and her daughter, Leah Anne Cron. She worked at SMSU and Foster Manufacturing a long time ago. She also graduated from Draughn's Business College. She was a volunteer of The Linus Project. She also embroidered baby blankets for children in need. Charlene loved doing this, it was one of her passions. She especially enjoyed going to H&L Auction in Pleasant Hope, MO. She loved thrift stores, yard sales, and playing Yahtzee, cards, Dominoes, Scrabble, and Monopoly. Those were some of her favorites. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Jerry Baker of Pleasant Hope, MO; daughters, Shelly McBee and husband Donny of Pleasant Hope, and Cindy Tracy of Springfield; grandkids, Dakota Cron and Tana Countryman; great-grandson, Rowdy Altic; sisters, Dee Osborn, Aggy Mishkin, Marilou Thompson, and Sue Dean; brother, Jim Short; sister-in-law, Donna Short; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She touched many people's hearts. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Memorial services will be in a couple of months so her family can get things settled and have warmer weather. The family appreciates all of your thoughts, cards, prayers, and love. We will let you know about the memorial service please bear with us.
