Cathy Iris Minnick, 61, Springfield, MO, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, May 21, 2014, surrounded by her family and friends. She was born November 14, 1952, in Kansas City, MO, to Buck and Lois Wharton. Cathy was always a bit ornery and mischievous, had an infectious laugh, and a radiant smile that would light up any room. She enjoyed watching TV and spending time with her family and friends. But most of all, she dearly loved being a mother and a grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Robin Laughlin; and brother, Douglas Wharton. Cathy is survived by her children, Mike Hicks and wife Irene, Rick Richter and wife Marcy, Stacy Turner and husband Scott, Terry Richter and wife Camie; grandchildren, Allen, Krista, Jeffery, Jacob, Hailee, Bailey, Lorren, Sid, Christian, Levi, and Dakota; siblings, Diane Chadwick, Jimmy Walker, and Sandy Bedwell; many nieces and nephews; and her extended family at Jacob's Care Center and United Baptist Church of Springfield. A celebration of Cathy's life will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 24, 2014, in the United Baptist Church, 2501 W. State Street, Springfield, MO 65802. Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services, Springfield.
