IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Brenda
Sparkman
November 26, 1947 – March 17, 2025
Brenda May Sparkman (Hale), 77, of Springfield, MO, passed away peacefully at home on March 17, 2025. She was born on November 26, 1947, in Springfield, MO, to William R. and Elizabeth A. Hale, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Richard Shillcutt, and her sister, Linda K., who passed at birth.
Brenda shared 61 wonderful years of marriage with her devoted husband, Jerry D. Sparkman, after they wed on December 6, 1963. Together, they built a loving family, raising two children: Jerry D. Sparkman Jr. (Tammi S.) and Regina A. Barnett (Michael J.). She was a proud grandmother to Jerry D. Sparkman III (Deidra D.), Carl W. Sparkman (Alicia M.), Blake J. Barnett, and Mason C. Barnett, and a beloved great-grandmother to four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her dear sister, Debrah A. Brake.
Brenda had a deep love for the outdoors and could often be found enjoying nature, especially when fishing—even if it meant accidentally knocking her grandson into the water off the dock. She had a passion for knitting, genealogy, and playing cards with family and friends, creating cherished memories with those she loved.
She was also a dedicated volunteer for over 25 years with the Battlefield Fire Protection District, where she played a crucial role in supporting the community and those who served within it. Her commitment to service and helping others was an inspiration to all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 22nd from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Republic Parks and Recreation Community Room, located at 711 E. Miller Rd., Republic, MO 65738.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri in Brenda's honor. Contributions can be made online at https://www.swh.org/donate-now.html .
Brenda's warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for her family and community will be deeply missed, but her legacy of kindness and service will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services of Springfield, MO.
