IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Brenda Sue
Barlow
December 17, 1947 – January 6, 2022
Brenda Sue Dean-Barlow passed to her eternal reward after a prolonged illness on January 6, 2022, at 6:13 am at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield Missouri. She was 74 years young.
Brenda was born on December 17, 1947, To Deward and Mary Dean of Ash Grove, Missouri. She graduated from Ash Grove Highschool in Missouri in 1965.
She married Leroy Vincent Barlow on August 20, 1966, at The First Wesleyan Church of Springfield, Missouri. They shared a deep and abiding love for 55 years. Together they share 4 daughters, Monica Sue Wingert married Shawn L. Wingert of Ozark, Missouri, Vineese Lee Knight married Douglas J. Knight of Highlandville, Missouri, Tina Louise Stout of Long Island, New York, and Oliva Joy Ryan married to Kevin D. Ryan of Springfield, Missouri.
Shortly after graduation, she attended Blue Bonnet Beauty School in downtown Springfield, Missouri. She mainly used this license to voluntarily serve people in need. Brenda was a homemaker of the best kind for most of her life, tending to her 4 daughters and serving as the Homeroom Mother and PTA President. She also served as a Girl Scout leader for many years.
In her eldest daughter's high school years at Glendale High School, she served as an in-school cook and later the Head Pastry Cook. This was so she could be readily available and nearby her beloved daughters. She was known for giving extra food portions and making sure no kid was hungry during school, or after school was over.
She also worked as a Pastry Chef and made wedding cakes for a short time in Springfield, Missouri at Edibley Yours Bakery.
She went on to manage an award-winning, fine jewelry counter for Jan Bell in Springfield, Missouri.
Throughout her life she found other entrepreneurial ventures to put her energy into like owning a Flea Market on Republic Rd in Springfield, Missouri, and serving alongside her husband Leroy at House of Sound, also in Springfield, Missouri for many years.
Brenda was small in stature, but she never missed an opportunity to defend the underdog or stand her ground for what she believed. She was consistent with this philosophy throughout her life.
Brenda was a committed follower of Christ and to all her church family. She attended the First Wesleyan Church of Springfield for over 35 years. She then moved to Pleasant Hope, Missouri, and attended Spring Hill Baptist for 10 years. They moved to Nixa Missouri in 1998 and joined First Baptist Church of Nixa where she was a member upon her death.
Brenda is survived by her devoted husband Leroy Barlow, her 4 daughters, 3 sons-in-law, 13 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. She is the first of her 6 additional siblings to leave this earth. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed. She now resides in Heaven waiting for her friends and family to join her.
Mom had a heart for the homeless and we as her family have decided to honor that by requesting that in lieu of flowers you show your love for her with donations of socks, underwear, hand warmers, sleeping bags, gloves, hats, scarves, etc. that will be distributed locally to Safe to Sleep and Rare Breed.
