Elizabeth "Betty" Jean Nickel, 88, of Springfield, MO, formerly of Carthage, MO, gained her Angel wings March 4, 2021. She is the daughter of Fred and Anna Mae Melichar, born Aug. 3rd 1932 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Betty was the most amazing wife, mother and most of all Bubbie to 13 grandchild and 17 great grandchildren.
She leaves behind her husband, John Nickel; and four children, Mary and Barry Jamison, John Bartosh, Frank Bartosh and Bonnie and Doug Pugh.
She was an avid painter, golfer and world traveler. She and her husband, John, traveled the world and she took many of her grandchildren on trips that will be cherished for years to come. Betty loved teaching art class, as well as giving her work to all that knew her and admired her worked.
Private family services will be held in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, MO. A celebration life will be held in Carthage, MO. after the services with all those who traveled near and far away to attend.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services.
