Bernard Thomas Jordan, born to Edith (Kight) Cogar and Bernard Jordan in Grantsville, West Virginia on April 5th, 1931 passed peacefully at his home in Springfield, Missouri on Monday, August 28th, 2017 at the age of 86.
A strong work ethic lead to many achievements throughout Bernard's life. During the Korean War, he served in the Marine Corps and attained the rank of Master Sergeant. Later, he transferred to the Air Force, where he served as a part of air traffic control. After life in the military, Bernard moved to Dade County, Florida, to be a police officer. Bernard later went to school at Ohio State University, where he obtained a degree in business administration, which allowed him to work as a part of management for multiple freight lines: CW Freight, Transcon Lines, Yellow Freight, and lastly Jack Rabbit Express. Upon retirement, he volunteered for many years as a part of the American Red Cross disaster relief.
He eventually settled in the Ozarks with his family, where he has lived ever since. Bernard's retired life was filled with friends and family, and he often spent days gardening, working on crafts, riding motorcycles with the Honda Gold Wing Association, fishing, reading and spending time with loved ones.
Bernard was preceded in death by mother, Edith Cogar; father, Bernard Jordan; son, Jeff McLachlan; as well as one sister and two infant brothers.
Bernard is survived by his wife, Phyllis Jordan; sons: Tommy McLachlan, Gale Jordan, Bryan Jordan; daughter: Julie Williams; grandchildren: Shane McLachlan, Brandon McLachlan and Robyn Jordan; as well as several siblings and siblings-in-law, daughters-in law and sons-in-law, nieces and nephews, cousins, step-grandchild and step-great-grandchild, and many friends and extended family.
Though he has passed, he will always be in our hearts and will be missed greatly.

Services will be held at 10 AM, Friday, September 1, 2017, in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, MO, will full Military Honors.
