Obituary

Barbara (Norman) Dahlor, 84, Branson West, MO, formerly of Prairie Village, KS, and Grand Community and Sun City West, AZ, passed away October 25, 2014. She was born October 30, 1929, in Shreveport, LA, to parents, Cecil and Kathryn Norman. She received a B.A. in Adult Music Education and Vocal Performance. She taught piano and voice privately and was a vocal instructor at Johnson County Community College. Barbara was the recipient of numerous vocal honors and awards including winning the Metropolitan Opera auditions for the Midwest Region of the country. She was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, the International Honorary Music Sorority. Barbara was the co-founder and director of the Kansas City Civic Opera Company, designed to provide opportunities for nonprofessionals to sing the music they love. Barbara, a Christian, used her beautiful, God-given gift of music and her deep love for people while serving with her pastor husband, Owen, in Southern Baptist Churches in MO, KS, AZ, and HI. She is survived by her husband; two children, Kathy Faure and Norm Dahlor; and two grandchildren, Hannah and Katie. She will be missed and remembered by a great number of loved ones and dear friends. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM, November 8, 2014, in The Chapel at Elfindale, 1701 S. Fort, Ave, Springfield, MO. Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services, Springfield.
