Avonn Foley

Avonn Lea Foley, nee Oppermann, 79, “Vonnie” to her family and “NaNa” to her grandchildren, departed her loving family on September 19, 2026. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on May 14, 1947, to LeRoy and Helen Oppermann.

Avonn was wife to John H. Foley and a truly amazing mother to Michael Foley and John J. Foley. She raised her children with an overabundance of love, patience, and understanding in Springfield, Missouri.

She was a bookkeeper for over 25 years and retired in 2019. Avonn was an avid reader and loved jewelry, baking Christmas cookies for friends and family, and spending time with her beloved grandchildren.

Avonn is survived by her husband, John H. Foley; children, Michael Foley and John J. Foley; daughter-in-law, Crystal Foley; grandchildren, Connor Foley and Ryan Foley; brothers, Steve Oppermann and Mark Oppermann; nephews, Andy Oppermann, Aaron Oppermann, Erik Oppermann and Kellen Oppermann; and nieces, Sarah Stewart, Laura Jones, Beth Miller and Kirsten Akers.

Per Avonn’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. Instead, she will be remembered at a celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to The ARC of the Ozarks.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services of Springfield, MO.
