IN LOVING MEMORY OF
April
Richardson
May 10, 1976 – July 21, 2024
On Sunday, July 21st, 2024, April Dawn Richardson passed away in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 48. She was born on May 10, 1976, in Kansas City, MO and has been a Missouri girl at heart ever since no matter what other states she has wandered to. She will be forever cherished by her friends and family. She spent her life being silly, eclectic, and taking joy in every place she could find it. She taught her kids to always throw salt over their left shoulder, keep rosemary by their garden gate, plant lavender for luck, and to fall in love whenever they could. She spent her life bringing laughter and joy to everyone she met. April found humor in every place she could and lived her life as wildly as possible. She loved days at the lake, horror movies, musicals, and baking.
April graduated high school from Parkview High School in 1996 after giving birth. This was and continues to be an incredible accomplishment that inspired those who knew her. She worked incredibly hard as both a mom and a student. During her schooling years she made lifelong friends, developed an amazing sense of style, and found homes in places her heart would never leave. She graduated from Carrington College in 2021 with a Medical Billing and Coding Certificate and immediately went to work. In that time, she raised her kids to be activists, to use their voices, and to love knowledge. She was an avid reader and loved bringing books into her kids' lives.
April is survived by her children, Olivia and Selena Richardson; her family, Jane Evermonde, Harry Turer, Dominique Evermonde, Jarrod Nielson, Michael Richardson, Rachel Richardson, Amy Richardson, and numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, and siblings; friends that were like family, Tara Cunningham, Lorisa Scott, Misti Mccleary, Chad Brown, and numerous other friends over the years who helped her when she needed it most. She joins several friends and family members beyond this life and hopefully has found peace with them.
Services will be held on August 17th in Springfield, MO and her daughter, Selena Richardson, has asked that she be contacted by anyone who wants to attend for further information. The family also asks that the attire worn be colorful to reflect the color April brought to each of our lives.
She will be cremated, and her ashes will be spread in places she would've felt peace at. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made to her gofundme to help her daughters pay for her passing. If you must do flowers her family encourages you to plant them in hopes your thumb will be greener than hers ever was and that you laugh just like she would've if you find your thumb lacking.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services of Springfield, MO.
