Springfield

With heavy hearts, the family of Annajane “Annie” Sanders announces her passing on May 16, 2026.

Born in Colorado, Annie was raised and built her early life in Denver, Colorado before relocating to Southwest Missouri in late 1977 eventually settling in Springfield, Missouri. She was a remarkably hard worker, dedicating many years to food service until her retirement from Cox Health Systems. Throughout the years she worked in various establishments and she was deeply loved and celebrated by customers and coworkers alike.

Annie was an involved, attentive, and adoring ’Gram’ to her grandchildren who never missed an opportunity to show up. You could frequently find her sitting on the floor playing alongside the kids, cheering in the crowds at every school and sporting event, or listening with genuine excitement to their stories. She cherished family gatherings, vacations, and was at the center of their most special holiday memories.

A voracious reader, Annie loved spending her retirement on the back patio with a cup of coffee and a Marlboro, watching the birds, or laughing at the squirrels. Her covered back porch was the heart of the home—a place of shared meals, stories, hugs, laughter, and the happy chaos of dogs and babies passing through. In her final months she spent endless hours looking at pictures and watching videos of her great-grandchildren who were an infinite source of joy and laughter. Headstrong and sharp-witted, her wonderful sense of humor stayed with her until the very end.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, James Jacob Snow, and by her son, Tandy, who was her dedicated caretaker and companion during her last several years.

She is survived by her children, Traci, Paula, Kiersten, and Jacob; her seven grandchildren, Cory, Dakota, Emma, Carli, Jack, Benjamin, and Rachel; her four great-grandchildren, Adiline, Eleanor, Charles, and Norah. She was a loving and loyal sister and aunt and is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, all of which she loved and remembered fondly even in her final days.

Annie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services of Springfield, MO.
