Alicia
Ricketts
November 23, 1962 – November 9, 2023
Alicia Ann Ricketts, 60, a lifelong resident of Springfield, MO passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023. She was born at St. John's Hospital on November 23, 1962, to Ed and Ann Beatty.
Alicia was one of seven children who attended Immaculate Conception grade school then St. Agnes high school. She graduated from Parkview High School in May 1982. Post graduation, Alicia attended classes before gaining employment at Peterbilt of Springfield. There she worked in many departments before settling into the corporate accounting profession. Alicia was a loyal and dedicated employee to Peterbilt of Springfield since January 1989, nearly 35 years. In 1984, Alicia gave birth to her only daughter, Jenay. She loved her so very much, coal train loads. It was in the summer of 1989 that Steve Ricketts was introduced to Alicia at a house party, and they instantly fell in love! Steve and Alicia were married on October 6th,1990, in her parent's backyard surrounded by family and friends with good food and even better music!
She liked attending concerts/live shows/plays, cooking on the grill and driving on the open road. She enjoyed going to St. Louis Cardinal baseball games, jamming to music while making dinner, paint by number projects, pinning on Pinterest and curled up with a favorite magazine; InStyle, MissouriLife, BHG, or Martha Stewart. They loved sitting on the deck watching the hummingbird air shows and Sunday drives '…which way do you want to go today?'. Playing in her yellow garden, staying at Bed and Breakfast places, watching Jeopardy and Turkey trotting where some of her favorite things. Fall was always exciting to her with the kickoff to the KC Chiefs season then her favorite holiday, Halloween! Warm blankets, hot coffee, soups and stews on the stove, watching football games, Thanksgiving family dinners and Christmas get-togethers made her happy. She really enjoyed spending time with people she loved.
She loved being at home snuggled up on the couch watching HGTV and Food Network. Potting her plants every spring and gardening in the backyard were things she loved. She loved any reason to celebrate, she loved to party and to host parties. She cherished quiet times at home. She would put a smile on anybody's face she was visiting with. She always looked for the good in people.
Alicia is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Glenn and Mark Douglas. She is survived by her husband, Steve Ricketts, 70; daughter, Jenay Divin, 39, and husband, Benjamin; grand-nugget, Henry David, 21 months; sister, Stacey Owens; brothers, Edward, Sam, and Pete; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and loved ones.
