Alice M. Kibby, 76, Springfield, MO passed away Monday, January 20, 2014, in her home surrounded by her family. She was born March 21, 1937 in Dodgeville, WI, to Alvin and Nora Johnsrud. Alice enjoyed spending time at home with her two puppies, Spirit and Rugar, as well as gardening. She graduated from Phoenix College with her Associate s Degree and then continued her studies at Prescott College in 1993 in Prescott, Arizona, where she obtained her Bachelor s Degree in Substance and Chemical Dependence. Around the same time that Alice was studying at Prescott College, she opened up a half-way house for Women in Recovery (Alice s Wonderland) that housed 50 women. In 2005, Alice closed the doors and decided to move to Missouri and retire. However, God had other plans. In 2008, she opened A&M Recovery. Alice was a substance abuse counselor at A&M Recovery and is the A in A&M Recovery. She celebrated 28 years of sobriety. Alice fought a courageous battle with Stage 4 breast cancer. On a daily basis she got up, put on her hat (a different one every day), and went to work. Alice loved what she was able to do for so many others and truly enjoyed working with people in recovery. She was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers; and daughter, Rosanne Marie Forston. Alice is survived by her husband, Robert S. Kibby; children, Robin M. White and spouse, Rene M. Doehrer, Robert Kibby and wife Cathy, Rachel M. Kibby and spouse; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a host of family and friends; and especially her family at A&M Recovery. Alice s family will be holding a private service to celebrate her life. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services, Springfield. In lieu of flowers, donations maybe be made to House of Hope and Healing, 3322 S. Campbell, Suite P&G, Springfield. With these donations, Alice s dream of helping people will be continued through House of Hope and Healing.
